Preschool Mission

St. Catherine of Siena Preschool & Mother’s Day Out was established in 1984 to provide a ministry to the people of our community.  We feel that the early education of our children is significantly important and we are proud to offer this training within the framework of our spiritual tradition.  We believe every person needs a relationship with God and with His Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ.  St. Catherine of Siena Preschool and Mother’s Day Out provides an atmosphere which will encourage the development of the whole child; academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.

A diverse, friendly, relaxed atmosphere, without regimentation, is the basis of the school’s daily program.

Our Preschool Program includes teacher-planned projects with a strong emphasis in the fields of language arts, science, math and art activities, which encourage self-expression and creativity, are a prominent part of the child’s day.   Age-appropriate activities are planned with attention to the different needs, interest, and developmental levels of each child.  Various manipulatives, as well as quiet learning games and learning centers are available at all times.  In addition, Music, Creative Movement, and Chapel are also a part of our curriculum along with Spanish, which is offered to our 4-Year Old Preschool & PreK classes.  Christian values are emphasized in all activities.

Our Mother’s Day Out Program’s mission is to ensure that your child’s first school experience will be both positive and nurturing.  Our day consists of organized playtime, music, stories, arts and crafts, and outdoor play designed to stimulate the child’s natural curiosity and encourage the development of the whole child.  Classroom activities change as the children grow through the year and each class has a monthly theme that is reinforced through stories, songs, and art activities.

St. Catherine of Siena

A soul rises up, restless with tremendous desire for God's honor and the salvation of souls. St. Catherine dedicated her life to serving those in need. She served as a nurse in homes and hospitals, and looked out for the destitute. She spread her knowledge and love of God through her work and her writings. At the age of seven we are told that St. Catherine vowed her virginity to God. At eighteen, she received the Dominican habit. She then began to live in solitude and silence in her room, going out only for mass. But somewhere, somehow, in this silence she learned to read. This silence ended in 1368 in her "mystical espousal" to Christ, after which she suddenly rejoined her family at home and gave herself to the service of the poor and sick.
