This Ministry is the process by which an adult becomes Catholic. This may include being baptized for the first time or joining the Catholic Church as a baptized person from another Christian faith. It also can include adults who were baptized Catholic but have never received Catholic instruction and have been away from the church, and therefore need to celebrate First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation. The process involves an Inquiry time, in which general questions are answered, and a formal period of instruction, called the Catechumenate, as well as more specific times at certain seasons. Interviews of those interested in joining the inquiry period can take place at any time. Classes are year round, except holidays, so you may begin at any time. Depending on individual background, the normal time frame to join the Catholic Church is about 1 1/2 to 2 years. This ministry affords the opportunity to share the faith as well as to update one’s personal knowledge of Catholicism. Look for brochures at the church for more specific information, or contact Karen Hines at firstname.lastname@example.org or 972-492-3237 ext. 123 with any questions.
