Rite of Christian Initiation Adapted for Children

This Ministry is the process by which a child or youth becomes Catholic. This may include being baptized for the first time or joining the Catholic Church as a baptized person from another Christian faith.

The process involves two school years of classes, except most school holidays. However, there may be classes every other week in the summer between Year 1 and Year 2. The schedule is offered at the beginning of the school year (September) and is based on the parent’s availability.

An adult from the family is required to attend classes each week with the child. Contact the office at 972-492-3237.

St. Catherine of Siena

A soul rises up, restless with tremendous desire for God's honor and the salvation of souls. St. Catherine dedicated her life to serving those in need. She served as a nurse in homes and hospitals, and looked out for the destitute. She spread her knowledge and love of God through her work and her writings. At the age of seven we are told that St. Catherine vowed her virginity to God. At eighteen, she received the Dominican habit. She then began to live in solitude and silence in her room, going out only for mass. But somewhere, somehow, in this silence she learned to read. This silence ended in 1368 in her "mystical espousal" to Christ, after which she suddenly rejoined her family at home and gave herself to the service of the poor and sick.
