Faith Formation Ministry

The faith formation volunteers at St. Catherine of Siena are given the charge to lead the community in its forward movement in growth, knowledge and love. The volunteers will impact the faith formation of the parishoners in two areas: Knowing the faith (why) and living the faith (how). The values that guide the volunteers are commitment, cooperation, open-mindedness, mutual respect, collaboration, positivity, honesty and faith.

Volunteer opportunities for Formation Ministries:

  1. Elementary Family Formation co-catechist: Catechists prepare to lead a group of children or families during formation sessions through provided lessons. Catechists partner with another adult and should be able to commit to all or most RE sessions. Sunday and Wednesday sessions are available. Contact the office at 972-492-3237 for more information.
  3. Elementary Family Formation planning team: Do you enjoy organizing lessons and content or have ideas to incorporate various learning styles into elementary religious education? The planning team meets mostly over the summer to lesson plan for the upcoming school year. Contact the office at 972-492-3237 for more information.
  5. Nursery during Family Formation: Volunteers are needed to babysit the younger children of catechists and families during both Sunday and Wednesday sessions. Contact Karen Hines at 972-492-3237 X123 for more information.
  7. Elementary First Reconciliation and First Communion Preparation Coaches: Help families prepare their children for these special Sacraments through leading family groups through content and large group activities.   9. Vacation Bible School Volunteer: Adults and youth including incoming 6th graders are needed each summer to lead Vacation Bible School. Our dynamic program serves over 175 kids ages 3-10 and needs 100 volunteers in various roles. Contact the office at 972-492-3237 or see the VBS page for more information.
  11. Youth Night Faith Coach: Are you willing to walk with young people on their faith journey? Faith coaches work with a small group and act as facilitator for discussion, activities, etc. during the formation sessions. Faith coaches partner with another adult and should be able to commit to all or most Youth Nights. Contact the office at 972-492-3237 for more information.
  13. Youth Night Hospitality/Kitchen Volunteers: Food, feeding, and eating are an important part of not only our physical life but our spiritual life as well. The hospitality team prepares simple meals on youth nights. Contact the office at 972-492-3237 for more information.
  15. Youth Confirmation Team: Adults are needed to act as mentors and guides on the youth’s journey toward Confirmation. Youth Confirmation happens mostly in the spring, with some fall needs. Contact the office at 972-492-3237 for more information.
  17. Youth Retreats and Mission Trip: Adults needed to help plan and execute awesome opportunities away for youth to grow deeper in their faith. Contact the office at 972-492-3237 for more information.
  19. Youth Choir: The Youth Choir sings at the Sunday 5 pm Mass each week. If you love to praise God through music, please join us! Practice starts at 4 pm in the Church on Sunday afternoons. Contact the office at 972-492-3237 for more information.
  21. Adult Confirmation Preparation Team: Adults are needed to help other adults who are seeking Confirmation. Often adults seeking Confirmation have been away from the Church for some amount of time and need the community of others. Team members can assist with the mini-retreat and hospitality, as well as other needs. Contact the office at 972-492-3237 for more information.
  23. Baptism Preparation Team: Join the Baptism Prep team to help welcome young children into the Church! You can choose from 4 different sections of the preparation process with a commitment as low as 3 times a year. Contact the office at 972-492-3237 for more information.
  25. Marriage Preparation Sponsor Couple: Sponsor couples work through materials from the Fully Engaged marriage preparation questionnaire to help couple prepare for a lifelong marriage. Contact the office at 972-492-3237 for more information.
