Hospitality Ministry

*** Safe Environment Certification for Employees and Adult Volunteers is REQUIRED PRIOR TO VOLUNTEERING/ SERVING in Ministry ***

The vision for the Hospitality team at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church is to extend Christ’s welcome to all, beyond the Mass and other spiritual activities, by promoting involvement within the parish community.  Its purpose is to oversee the balance and diverse variety of hospitality ministry activities, facilitating collaboration between ministries when necessary. The hospitality team values, by which we operate, are faith-based fellowship, mutual respect, collaborative spirit and awareness of cultural diversity within the parish.

The hospitality team promotes and supports activities, evaluates current and past activities, brainstorms new activities, assures that at least one social event is scheduled per month.  We hold an annual Spring ministry fair for the parish’s hospitality and service ministries by planning, executing and promoting these ministries, inviting involvement from the community at large.

The Hospitality Team is active with meetings every month, and anyone is welcome to attend. It is a great way to meet people if you are new to the parish. The team is devoted to their committed mission to the parish, based on collaboration with liturgy, formation and service.  Team members are committing to no less than 2 years of service on the Hospitality team.

Hospitality events:

Autumnfest:  Annual parish fund raising event promoting fellowship and fun.  Team planning begins in April.  Events are held in and outdoors.  Volunteers of all ages make our parish’s festivities a success.

Golf Tournament:  An event supporting the parish open to families to enjoy a round of golf in a tournament setting for fun and fellowship as part of our annual Autumnfest celebration.

Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, December 12.  We promote devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe, patroness of the Americas.  Planning team meets in November.  A novena is held December 3-11. Mass is in Spanish with a Spanish choir.

Christmas Bazaar:  This is a fundraising opportunity for vendors of our parish and the wider community to sell their wares.  The bazaar is held the first weekend in December.

St. Catherine of Siena

A soul rises up, restless with tremendous desire for God's honor and the salvation of souls. St. Catherine dedicated her life to serving those in need. She served as a nurse in homes and hospitals, and looked out for the destitute. She spread her knowledge and love of God through her work and her writings. At the age of seven we are told that St. Catherine vowed her virginity to God. At eighteen, she received the Dominican habit. She then began to live in solitude and silence in her room, going out only for mass. But somewhere, somehow, in this silence she learned to read. This silence ended in 1368 in her "mystical espousal" to Christ, after which she suddenly rejoined her family at home and gave herself to the service of the poor and sick.
