St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church Lector Ministry
The lector serves the Eucharistic assembly - the people God has gathered to hear His Word - by telling the story of God's saving work in the lives of His people. These stories, told for generations, reinforce our identity as members of the community of God.
In our hearts we know that these stories, while based on history and tradition, are in a mysterious way about our own existence, our own time, our relationships, and about us. The role of the reader is to TELL the TRUTH about the STORY so that God's people are touched. We will be reminded of what God has done for us in the past and will continue to do for us. We will be filled with faith, and will be ready to celebrate Eucharist.
On the weekend that they are scheduled, lectors are required to participate in the lector preparation program, a prayer and study session held every Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. In these sessions, the lectors support each other in telling the whole-hearted story so that God's Word is heard, remembered, identified with, and lived in our lives. Training is held only sporadically during the year. Please identify yourself as interested to the church office, the ministry fair, or to the facilitator below.
